Fort Mackenzie was established in 1898 as a U.S. Army outpost and abandoned on November 3, 1918, per Wikipedia.
The fort bowlers participated in the first City Bowling league (modeled after the Denver Bowling league) during the 1911-1912 season at the Middleton alleys. The site was initially transferred to the Public Health Service in 1921 and from 1922 the site was used as a veterans hospital. |
